Judging can often be the most intimidating part of the FIRST Tech Challenge, as your team will have to deliver a speech to a panel of judges. This section will help you and your team understand what judging is, give tips and pointers on how to improve your chances of earning an award, and bring you up to speed on the terminology.

What Is Judging?

The judging part of the FIRST Tech Challenge is how your team can earn awards and potentially advance even if your robot doesn't perform well. Your team will have both an interview, in which you will enter a room and give a prepared speech, and a pit visit, in which the judges will visit your team in the pits.
